JaVar Daniel Signs to UWG Men’s Basketball

CARROLLTON, Ga.- Marking the third commitment of the 2025 class, head coach Dave Moore announced today that JaVar Daniel officially signed to play for the University of West Georgia men's basketball team.

Daniel, a 6-foot-10 junior forward hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, transferred into the program from ASUN-foe Austin Peay State University.

Coach Moore was excited for the newest addition, stating, "We are thrilled to welcome JaVar Daniel to the UWG Basketball Family. JaVar is a long 6'10 forward with tremendous upside potential. He is quick off his feet and has a developing skill set that has a chance to be special. He has had great experience in the ASUN over the last 2 seasons, and we feel he is another guy that is ready to make a big leap forward in his game. We watched a lot of film on JaVar as we played APSU twice last season. We expect JaVar to have a big impact for us in '25-'26!"

Playing in 35 games over the past two seasons for the Governors, Daniel averaged 2.2 points and 2.0 rebounds while accumulating 25 blocks, 13 assists and 10 steals.

One highlight performance that stands out in the junior's collegiate career is a 15-point, five-rebound night against Lipscomb (Jan. 13, 2024). This past season against Morehead St., Daniel knocked down eight points while grabbing a career-high 11 rebounds (Nov. 20, 2024).

In high school, the Tennessee native helped lead Arlington (TN) to back-to-back District and Regional Division I Championships during his freshman and sophomore years. Not only did Daniel excel on the court, he also won the State Championship in the High Jump while at Arlington (2019). After suffering a season-ending injury as a junior, Daniel returned to the hardwood with a vengeance, averaging 11.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks at We Are United Prep (MO) as a senior. This outstanding season earned him 4A All-District First Team honors.

Daniel joins Micah Smith and Matija Žužic  as the third player to sign in the 2025 class.
