Wolves Wrap Up Stetson Series With 10-1 Win

DELAND, Fla. - West Georgia baseball concluded their away series by beating the top-ranked Stetson Hatters 10-1 today in a dominating fashion.

With the Wolves (18-26, 10-15 ASUN) out-hitting SU (32-17, 20-4 ASUN) 17-5, combined with solid pitching by Seth Dudley, resulted in UWG snapping their eight-game losing skid in Deland.

Led by Carter Dierdorf and Blake Bradford with three hits each, six different Wolves recorded a multi-hit game. In seven frames, Dudley struck out four batters and gave up an unearned run.

Following the game, head coach Jeff Smith talked about what he saw today, stating, "Our guys had some great zone discipline at the plate and we were able to scrap out some runs. They scored early on two errors, but our guys didn't let it affect them. They went out there and did their job. We out-hit them by 12."

GAME SUMMARY
Senior righty Seth Dudley made his 12th start of the season in Deland. In 56.1 innings across 11 games, Dudley posted a 5.02 ERA and tallied the second-most strikeouts for West Georgia with 45 coming into today. SU started junior righty Ethan Phillips. In 40.2 innings across 11 appearances, Phillips posted a 3.10 ERA with 26 strikeouts prior to the series finale.

SU opened today's game grabbing a 1-0 lead in the first off of a pair of pitching errors.

For the first time this whole series, the UWG offense came alive in the second frame. Kicking the scoring attack was Jacob Bowman with an RBI single into right. Following this, Blake Bradford put the Wolves up for the first time this series off of a double to left field. Jack Witmer then drove another Wolf home with a base hit. After this, Bradford scored on a wild pitch and Carter Dierdorf drove another UWG player home with a sacrifice fly, ending the second frame with the Wolves up 5-1. 1. UWG recorded five hits this frame.

Following a scoreless third, West Georgia added two more runs in the fourth thanks to a pair of RBIs by Brady McDevitt and Dierdorf.

During the eighth, UWG pushed their advantage to 10-1 off of hits by Beau Brand and Bowman.

UWG won 10-1.

BY THE NUMBERS
