Record Setting Pace Powers Wolves to First Division I Victory

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.- The West Georgia Wolves made history on Friday night at John Hunt Park, as junior Reatta Danhoff stormed to victory in the women's 5000m and set a new personal record time of 18:57.10. Danhoff's performance not only secured the individual win but also helped lead the Wolves to their first victory in the program's Division I era.

Her victory set the tone for the Wolves, who showed tremendous improvement from their previous meet. West Georgia captured the title earning 39 points, placing four runners in the top ten overall. Junior Kristal McQueen finished fourth in 19:19.64, while senior Catherine Greer was fifth in 19:34.63, and senior Kathrin Maurer crossed sixth in 19:36.88, with both Greer and Maurer also recording season best. 

Junior Jordan Jarnot finished 32nd in 21:20.73 and junior Linda Rivero came through 34th in 21:25.03. Senior Madeline Gaskin ran 21:47.79 to finish 39th, and senior Linda Vasquez clocked a season-best 22:24.91 to place 52nd.

With a complete team effort led by Danhoff, the Wolves showed early improvement by four of their runners earning career milestones. 

West Georgia will look to carry this momentum into their next meet at the Upstate Invitational at Millikin Research Park in Spartanburg, S.C., on Friday, September 26 at 8:30 a.m.
