CARROLLTON, Ga. - There's no more time to celebrate UWG women's basketball's monumental victory as another Atlantic Sun Conference foe from the state of Florida invades The Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.
West Georgia (11-5, 4-1 ASUN) hosts Stetson (10-6, 3-2 ASUN) on Saturday, January 17th at 2pm in Carrollton.
Last time out, the Wolves pulled off a huge victory over FGCU, who had won 58 consecutive ASUN games prior to Thursday's 63-56 contest. But the Wolves did it impressively, leading for three quarters of the game, and by as much as 15 at one point in the second half.
But the Wolves have to move past that big win because Stetson is coming in hot as well. Stetson defeated Queens on Thursday, their second straight road win after knocking of Austin Peay last Saturday in Clarksville.
"They beat us twice last year, and we haven't forgotten that," said head coach Joanna Reitz, "They have a really good team and they have the Preseason Player of the Year and she's such a good player, so we have to put together a good game plan to keep not only her, but the rest of the team in check, and then how are we going to exploit their defense."
Saturday's game at The Coliseum features four of the top six scorers in the ASUN. Stetson's Cameron Thomas averages a league-best 18 points per game while Jasmine Jones is third in the league at 15.3 per game, Asia Donald is fourth at 14.9, and Sydne Tolbert's 13.9 per game is sixth.
Jones is coming off of a 26-point game in the FGCU win, a game in which she was 6-of-12 from long range. The senior from Carrollton hits 3.5 three-pointers per game which leads the country in Division I women's basketball.
Thomas and Jones are the top two three-point shooters in the league as well. Jones leads the league at 44.4 percent from beyond the arc, going 56-for-126. Thomas is 46-for-108 from beyond the arc for a 42.6 percent clip.
Stetson also brings in the league's top rebounder in Aleah Sorentino who grabs 8.3 boards per game, but just behind her at 8.0 per game is UWG's Destiny Jones. The sophomore from Louisville, Kentucky ranks third in the league in rebounding.
It's only the third matchup all-time between the Wolves and Hatters. Like Reitz mentioned, Stetson won both matchups in 2024-25. The Hatters won 79-64 in DeLand and then triumphed 68-58 in Carrollton. Tolbert scored 15 and 14 in each matchup, respectively.
Tickets are available and can be purchased here. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ for those fans not in Carrollton.
Tip-time is set for 2 p.m. from The Coliseum.
