Wolves Return Home to Host UCA Bears

1/20/2026 12:07:00 PM

CARROLLTON, Ga. - Following a four-game road stretch, the West Georgia men's basketball team returns home to host Central Arkansas this Thursday at 7 p.m. The game is streaming live on ESPN+ and tickets can be purchased using the link above.

Riding a three-game losing skid, UWG (9-9, 3-3 ASUN) has its sights set on getting back into the win column when they take on UCA (9-10, 4-2 ASUN), a team that has won its last two matchups.

After averaging nearly 30 points this week, forward Shelton Williams-Dryden pushed his season average to an ASUN-high 20.2 points per game (ranks 30th nationally) while shooting seventh-best in-conference 48 percent from the field. In addition to leading the league in scoring, the Milwaukee native's 9.1 rebounds per game average places him second in the ASUN. Looking at Williams-Dryden's game logs, the forward has dropped 20 or more points in six of the last seven games, underscored by a pair of 30-point performances.

Another Wolf who is on a scoring tear is guard Josh Smith. Since entering conference play, Smith has scored double-digits in all six ASUN contests, bringing his season scoring average to a fifth-best in-conference 16.1 points per game while shooting 38 percent from the field. Not only has he been scoring at a high rate, the guard has also taken care of the ball, highlighted by the fact that he has not conceded a turnover in conference play. Along with ranking second on the team in scoring, Smith's 39 assists and 15 steals place him third on the Pack.

Leading the way for the Bears in scoring is senior guard Camren Hunter, who is averaging a fourth-best in-conference 17.7 points per game while shooting a ninth-best in-conference 47 percent from the field. In addition to leading the Bears in scoring, Hunter averages 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while totalling 26 steals and three blocks. Outside of the Bears' season-opener vs North Carolina, Hunter has scored double-digits in every game. Six games into conference play, the guard has dropped 20 or more points four times.

Despite not having a player putting up top-ten rebounding figures, the Bears have averaged an ASUN-high 38.2 rebounds per game, fueled by a league-best 26.5 defensive rebounds per game. Leading UCA on with glass with a 5.5 rebounds per game average is redshirt freshman guard Ty Robinson. Along with making an impact on the boards, Robinson leads the team with 30 steals and ranks second on the Bears in scoring, averaging 14.4 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the field. After opening ASUN play riding a four-game 20-point scoring stretch, the guard has gone cold in the last three contests, dropping nine, eight and 12 on 34 percent shooting.

Looking at team stats, the Wolves average 76.4 points per game while shooting 43 percent from the field, 34 percent from three and 72 percent from the line. The Bears average slightly more, scoring 78.1 points per game while shooting 44 percent from the field, 32 percent from three and 68 percent from the line. On defense, the Wolves have conceded an average of 81.2 points per game, while UCA allows an average of 78.1 points per game.

In addition to leading the league in rebounds, the Bears rank second in steals (8.26 spg), third in assists (16.37 apg) and third in assist-to-turnover margin (1.42). One area where the Wolves shine is in blocks. Currently, the Pack's 4.78 blocks per game leads the ASUN. The Wolves also rank third in offensive rebounds, averaging 12.3 per game.
