Wolves Look to Win Third Straight, Host Jacksonville Saturday

1/9/2026 11:20:00 AM

CARROLLTON, Ga. - The UWG women's basketball team will go for a third straight Atlantic Sun Conference win on Saturday as they host Jacksonville at 2 p.m. at The Coliseum.

West Georgia (9-5, 2-1 ASUN) has won five of their last six and will look to keep the momentum going against Jacksonville (10-4, 2-1 ASUN) who has also won two straight and most recently throttled Queens, 91-40 on Thursday.

The Wolves' most recent outing was a 76-61 victory over North Florida, but the Wolves led by as much as 33 before making subs late in the game.

Jasmine Jones led all scorers with 22 points after nailing six three-pointers. She's been doing that all season as after Thursday's game she leads Division I in three-pointers made per game at 3.50.

UWG got 19 points from Sydne Tolbert in the win, as the junior now has back-to-back games that featured 24 and 19 points and was 16-of-24 (66.6 percent) from the field in those games combined.

Through three ASUN games thus far, it's Tolbert that's led the Wolves in scoring in those games, averaging 17.1 points per game against conference foes.

In what was a big team win over UNF, the Wolves got it done without a huge scoring game from Asia Donald, who leads the team and ranks second in the ASUN in scoring. Donald couldn't catch a break, and finished 1-of-5 from the field, but was effective from the free throw line going 7-of-8 to finish with nine points while pulling down a career-high 12 rebounds in the process.

Saturday's matchup with the Dolphins features four of the league's top-10 scorers. Donald and Jones are two and three while Tolbert is eighth and Jacksonville's Priscilla Williams in ninth in the league at 13.5 points per game.

Both teams are efficient offensively, with UWG ranking second in the league in scoring offense while Jacksonville is fourth, and are only separated by a near three-point margin.

Defensively, UWG is fifth while JU ranks ninth in the ASUN in scoring defense.

On the glass, the Wolves are the second-best rebounding team in the conference, pulling down 40.6 rebounds per game. Jacksonville is 10th in the league in rebounding at 35.9 per game.

It's just the second time the two teams have played and the first in Carrollton.

UWG only traveled to Jacksonville last year, and fell 87-74 in a game that was close until JU pulled away in the back end of the third quarter. Tolbert led UWG in that game with 21 points, which tied a career-high at the time.

Tip-time from The Coliseum is set for 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
