10/17/2026 9:00:00 AM

CARROLLTON, Ga.- The University of West Georgia women's soccer team (0-11-2,  0-6 UAC) will travel to Stephenville, Texas, on Sunday, Oct. 18, to face Tarleton State (4-3-7, 2-1-2 UAC) at 2 p.m. at the Tarleton State Soccer Complex.

Sunday's contest will mark the first all-time meeting between West Georgia and Tarleton State women's soccer, opening the series between the two programs.

West Georgia will face a Tarleton State team coming off one of its biggest wins of the season. The Texans defeated Eastern Kentucky, which entered the contest atop the UAC standings and unbeaten in conference play, 2-0 on Thursday night. With that win, Tarleton State has already matched its program record for conference wins in a single season.

The Texans have been productive offensively, scoring 28 goals in 15 matches while averaging 13.5 shots per game. Tarleton State ranks first in goals and points, second in assists, and third in the UAC in shots. The Texans have put 101 of their 203 shots on target, giving them a 49.8 shots on goal percentage.

Jessica Baires leads the UAC with 22 points and eight assists while ranking third in the conference with seven goals. She scored once and assisted on another goal in Thursday's win over Eastern Kentucky.

The Wolves look to rebound after Friday's 4-0 loss at Abilene Christian. UWG conceded four first-half goals but generated more opportunities after halftime, finishing with 12 shots and nine on target.

Taylor Richardson, Kaialani Wise, Noemi Casique, Kaylen Brown, Isa Ramirez and Bella Yelton were among the Wolves to record shots.

UWG has scored six goals through 13 matches, averaging 7.7 shots per game and putting 57 of its 100 shots on target, leaving them ahead of the Texans in this category with a 57 shot on goal percentage.

Goalkeeper Emily Sanabria remains a key part of the Wolves' defense. She ranks third in the UAC with 78 saves, leads the conference with 7.09 saves per game and ranks fourth in save percentage at .780. As a team, West Georgia ranks second in the conference with 92 saves, one behind Little Rock.

In their last match, the Texan's goalkeeper Rylie Bloomfield played all 90 minutes and made two saves to earn the shutout. Tarleton State outshot Eastern Kentucky 11-7 and held the Colonels to two shots on goal.

West Georgia will look to close its Texas road trip with a strong performance against Tarleton State on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m.
