CARROLLTON, Ga. - The 2026-27 Women's basketball season begins in the City of Dreams Wednesday night (October 28) hosting the Shorter Lady Hawks in a preseason exhibition at 7 p.m. There will be no stream for this contest and fans are urged to attend in person to get a first glance at this years squad.

Shorter is coming off a 17-12 campaign last season that ended in the semifinals of the Conference Carolina tournament. The Lady Hawks are also welcoming new head coach Marcus Hunt, a former assistant for Shorter, and who was the head coach at Clinton College last season.

The season opener for West Georgia is Monday (November 2) where they will travel to Athens to face the Georgia Bulldogs at 5 p.m. The home opener is November 7 where the Wolves will host Alabama State at 2 p.m.

Tickets for upcoming home matches can be found here, and as always UWG students get into home matches for FREE with a valid UWG ID!
