West Georgia (4-7) put together a win over UAB in their last game, arguably one of their biggest wins of the Division I era in their last outing, and face a tough slate of opponents.
The Wolves offense has a .261 team average and is led by Jenna Samuel with a .457 clip. The junior has a hit in 10 of 11 games this season and has a hit in each of the last seven including multi-hit games in three straight. Samuel ranks third in the ASUN with 16 RBIs and four doubles.
Between Samuel in the cleanup spot and freshman Ella Oswalt batting third, the Wolves have a solid one-two punch. Oswalt is batting .323 and is third in the ASUN with four home runs and has eight RBIs which is tied for second on the team.
Oswalt is tied with Madison McDonald in RBIs as McDonald drove in two runs on her second home run in Wednesday night's victory over the Blazers.
The Wolves pitching staff saw solid performances from Delaney Hoyle and Cacie Cutright on Wednesday with Cutright making her first career start and pitching 5.1 innings and didn't give up a hit until the fifth, and ultimately gave up all four runs. Hoyle pitched the remaining 5.2 innings of the 11-inning game, and gave up no runs and just three hits while striking out four.
Cutright leads the team with a 5.18 ERA on the season and has pitched a team-high 24.1 innings. Calli Hardison has the most starts on staff with four and has a 5.53 ERA.
