CARROLLTON, Ga. - UWG softball is back in action this weekend, heading east to Greenville, South Carolina for the Paladin Invitational at Furman University.

THE WOLVES
West Georgia (5-12) most recently fell in a midweek contest at home to Jax State, and now look to another weekend in South Carolina. The Wolves traveled to Spartanburg back in the second weekend of the season, and now make their second thris to the Palmetto State.
Jenna Samuel continues to lead the UWG offense despite being held hitless for just the third time in 17 games this season. The junior is batting .480 on the season and is second in the ASUN in RBIs with 21.
UWG was held to just four hits in the JSU loss, with one of those coming from freshman Ella Oswalt. The Newnan native is second on the team with a .380 average and leads the team with five home runs.
In the circle, Cacie Cutright leads UWG in ERA and innings pitched. The freshman has tossed 38.2 innings and has a 5.07 ERA.
THE OPPONENTS
West Georgia opens the weekend against Seton Hall (1-7) who has lost seven straight after opening their season with a victory over Indiana State. The Pirates have a team average of .212 and are led by the .346 average of Angelina Benitez. In the circle, Kyra Kreuscher has emerged as Seton Hall's ace, boasting a 2.93 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 14.1 innings pitched.
In game two on Friday, UWG takes on Winthrop (7-8) who hosted #19 South Carolina earlier this week, and fell in a close game, 5-4. The Eagles are led by Rebecca Amos who is batting .412. In the middle of their lineup, the trio of Darrah Nickens, Peyton Bryden, and Tia Beckham have combined for 12 of their 18 home runs. Lonna Addison has a team-high 41.2 innings pitched for Winthrop and leads the team with a 3.86 ERA.
On Saturday, UWG takes on tournament host Furman (1-15), losers of eight straight entering weekend play. The Paladins have been outscored 177-62 on the season and have a team ERA of 11.58. Furman is batting .270 as a team, and have two players, Eden Frederick and Katie Peeler, batting over .300.
The weekend finale pits the Wolves against George Mason (5-4) who has a solid pitching staff, boasting a team ERA of 3.25 and led by a 1.62 ERA from Alyssa Rangel over 17.1 innings and Abbey Lane's 2.03 ERA over 31.0 innings. George Mason's offensive leader is Tess Altevers Haris at .444 with two home runs.
