ACWORTH, Ga. - A solid second round from the Wolves put the UWG women's golf tea in a solid position after day one of the Bentwater Collegiate. The Wolves are in fourth place after rounds of 317 and 303 at Bentwater Golf Club.
A second round 68 from Hannah Barrett highlighted the day, helping UWG go from 10th place after 18 holes to fourth after 36.
Barrett struggled in the opening round, shooting an 81, but put up her second best score of the season with a 68 in round two. The junior began her round on hole five, quickly made a birdie on the sixth, eagled the ninth, and birdies the 11th to get to four-under par after seven holes. Her only blemish in round two was a bogey on 14, and she got that back with a birdie on the par five first hole. Barrett is in third place individually.
Inside the top-25 is Emma Baier who had one birdie in an opening round 79 before making three birdies en route to a second round 77. Baier is in 21st place and one shot ahead of freshman Sophie Dhaliwal. The freshman, Dhaliwal, led the Wolves in round one with a 78 and then carded a 79 in round two.
One shot behind her is sophomore Sofia Mondragon after she posted scores of 79 in each round. Mondragon sits in 34th place.
Rounding out the Wolves lineup was Keira Wolf who is in 72nd with an opening round 94 followed by an 85.
Erin Sullivan and Anna Olesen were playing as individuals in the event. Sullivan shot 79 and 82 to sit in 48th while Olesen is in 54th after rounds of 79 and 83.
The Wolves are jts six shots behind Tennessee Tech and Kennesaw State who are tied for second. Louisville, who is eight shots clear of the Eagles and Owls lead the event with the final round set for tomorrow.
