UWG Women's Golf Tied For Third, Dhaliwal in Eighth at Georgia State Invitational

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. - The UWG women's golf team sits tied for third after 36 holes of the Georgia State Invitational as the Wolves shot rounds of 296 and 293 on Monday at Rivermont Golf Club. 

Three Wolves are inside the top 25, led by Sophie Dhaliwal who sits in eighth place. The freshman posted a career-best 70 in the opening round, carding two birdies and 16 pars in a bogey-free round. She then rolled in three more birdies and posted a 74 in round two. 

Hannah Barrett, Emma Baier, and Anna Olesen are all tied for 25th following Monday's action. Barrett opened with a 77 before leading the team with an even-par 72 in round number two. Baier and Olesen flip-flopped a 74 and a 75 as Olesen shot 74 in round one while finishing with 75 in round two and Baier shot 75 then a second-round 74. 

It was a round one 78 for Sofia Mondragon, and then the sophomore had the second-best score in round number two, finishing one-over with a 73. Mondragon is in 38th place individually. 

On the team leaderboard, UWG is six shots behind the tournament host and 36-hole leaders Georgia State and three shots behind Quinnipiac in second. The Wolves are tied with Tarleton State in third and are two shots clear of the top-ranked Division III team in the country, Emory, who is in fifth. 

The final round from Rivermont Golf Club is set for tomorrow in Johns Creek, Georgia.
