CARROLLTON, Ga. – The UWG Department of Athletics announced today the promotion of longtime head athletic trainer Carri Stewart to the title of Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine.  

Stewart, who has worked with every sport in UWG's sport portfolio in her tenure here, has been a member of the sports medicine staff for 25 years, and began her time as a graduate assistant in 2000.  

"Carri Stewart is an invaluable member of our team at UWG. Her commitment to our student-athletes, attention to detail, and genuine care for people elevate everything we do," said Senior Associate Director of Athletics David Haase. "She leads with integrity and makes those around her better every day. In today's environment her ability to lead in her space is priceless. I am thankful everyday, that I get to work with someone with her qualities." 

After a brief stint away during the 2006-07 school year, Stewart returned and has been a mainstay in the sports medicine department since, ensuring the health and safety of UWG's 400-plus student athletes.  

Currently, Stewart is the primary athletic trainer for the UWG women's basketball team while overseeing the Wolves' entire sports medicine staff.
