CARROLLTON, Ga. - The University of West Georgia Department of Athletics announced today the promotion of Zac Hancock to Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Following the departure of former head man Logan Frey, Director of Athletics Jason Carmichael wasted no time in turning to a familiar face in Hancock to oversee a critical component of success across all of UWG's athletics portfolio.
"Zac Hancock is a leader on the rise. His devotion to his craft, for this institution and most importantly to student-athlete development are undeniable," said Carmichael. "We are beyond elated to position Zac in this vital leadership role in our department."
Hancock has been on UWG's staff for nearly seven years, the last two and a half as the Wolves' assistant strength and conditioning coach, working primarily with men's basketball, women's basketball, and football.
Prior to that appointment, Hancock was a graduate assistant, overseeing the UWG women's soccer and men's and women's golf programs while assisting with baseball. Hancock was a student assistant before that.
In total, Hancock has developed athletes for two teams that captured league titles, the 2021 UWG women's golf team and the 2024 UWG men's basketball program.
The Dallas, Georgia native is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and is a United States Weightlifting Level 1 Sport Performance Coach.
Hancock earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from UWG and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Education from UWG. He is married to Cali and the couple resides in Carrollton.
