West Georgia Makes History with Consecutive Meet Wins

ASHEVILLE, N.C.- After a strong opening day, the University of West Georgia men's track and field team built on its momentum to win the Bulldog Invitational with 152.5 total points. The victory marks the first time in program history that the Wolves have won consecutive meets.

UWG opened the meet with nine top-five finishes, one event win, and five personal bests on day one, before adding 11 top-five finishes, three event wins, and six personal bests on day two. Across the weekend, the Wolves totaled 20 top-five finishes, four event wins, and 11 personal bests.

Jumps, Vaults, & Throws
In the discus, Nicholas Lane led UWG with a throw of 38.96m. Aiden Willis followed with a mark of 33.33m, while Matthew Brunner rounded out the group at 30.74m. In the shot put, Brunner led the Wolves with a throw of 10.46m, closely followed by Conner Changizi at 10.45m.

In the pole vault, Kareem Nazim and Connor McLain claimed first and second place, respectively, both clearing 4.60m. Shea Thiewes tied for third with a vault of 4.45m, and Grayson Greene added a mark of 4.30m. In the triple jump, UWG secured three top-five finishes, led by Godsfavor Adenuga's first-place leap of 14.50m. Marcus Thompson Jr. followed with a mark of 14.19m, tying his season best, while Blake Davis recorded a jump of 13.82m.

Sprints & Hurdles
In the 100m, Vaughn Dickenson Jr. secured a first-place finish with a time of 10.46. Michael Willis added a personal-best time of 10.61 to place fifth, while Davin Denny finished at 10.70.

In the 400m, Matt Strickland led UWG with a third-place finish in 48.51. Trey Campbell followed in fifth at 48.98, while Jackson Connors recorded a personal-best time of 49.58.

Distance
In the 800m, three Wolves narrowly missed a top-five finish, but all recorded personal bests. Hyrum Smartt led at 1:56.38, he was followed by Gabriel Wrye at 1:56.46, and Evan Beasley finished at 1:56.59.

Relays
In the 4x100m relay, the team of Vaughn Dickenson Jr., David Akinyemi, Trey Campbell, and Michael Willis earned third place with a time of 41.69.

Up Next
UWG will have a three-week break before traveling to Starkville, Mississippi, for the Maroon and White Tune-Up, the final meet before the ASUN Outdoor Championships.
