Former UWG Men’s Basketball Player Inks Pro Contract

CARROLLTON, Ga. - Former University of West Georgia men's basketball standout Shelton Williams-Dryden '26 signed to play with Kipina Basket Aanekoski, a professional basketball team located in Äänekoski, Finland.

After posting a stellar 26-9 overall record, capped off by a league title, the 2025-26 season saw Kipina win its division to earn a spot in the Korisliiga league, the top division of professional Finnish basketball.

Williams-Dryden looks to add to the recent success after coming off a dominant senior season at UWG. Starting in all 32 games, the Milwaukee, Wisconsin native became the first Wolf in program history to earn First Team All-ASUN honors after he led the ASUN with 13 double-doubles, ranked second in the league in rebounds per game (9.1 RPG), ranked fourth in points per game (20.7 PPG) and ranked seventh in the ASUN in field goal percentage (.501). Williams-Dryden also boasts that he was 1-of-4 Mid-Major players last season to win Lute Olson National Player of the Week, and he was the only player in the conference to win ASUN Player of the Week three times.

In UWG history, the forward finished his career ranking fifth in field goals made (481 FGM), sixth in scoring (1207 points), and eighth in career rebounding (521 rebounds). He also placed seventh in single-season points after tallying 661 points last year.
