AUGUSTA, Ga. - The opening event of UWG men's golf's 2026-27 season came to a close on Tuesday with the Wolves taking seventh and a pair of Wolves posting top-15 individual finishes at the Augusta Jaguar Invitational. 

Freshman JP Groat continued his excellent play to open his career, using four birdies to post a second-consecutive round of 71. Groat finished the event two-under through 54 holes and tied for 12th. One stroke behind him for the tournament was Thomas Romani. The junior tied for 15th at one-under for the event, finishing with a one-under 71 on Tuesday.  

A final round 76 put Hayden Canary in 32nd place. Canary made one birdie and an eagle on Tuesday, making a three on the par-five third. 

Reid Rockett finished with a 77 in the final round, placing the freshman in 59th place. Fellow freshman Dallas Inch shot 83 in the final round and was in 70th place. 

Luke Able and Charlie Fischer had the low rounds of the day from UWG, as the two each shot 70 while competing as individuals. Each made three birdies and just one bogey on the day with Able finishing tied for 21st and Fischer taking 36th. 

Gus Darnall also competed as an individual and finished up with his best round of the week, a 75 which put him in 68th place. 

UWG was one shot behind Georgia State and Francis Marion who tied for fifth. Tournament host Augusta shot the low round of the day for the second straight round to claim the team title by 11 strokes. 

The Wolves' next action is set for this weekend at the Golfweek Fall Challenge at True Blue Golf Club in Pawley's Island, South Carolina. That 54-hole event takes place on Sunday, September 6 through Tuesday, September 8.
