Huntsville, Ala.- The University of West Georgia men's cross country team competed in its second consecutive meet in Alabama, traveling to Huntsville, Ala., for the Southern Showcase on Friday morning. The Wolves raced against multiple SEC and ACC teams, including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia Tech and Mississippi State.

The Wolves were once again led by sophomore standout Alex Njoroge, who has recorded a personal best in both races this season. Njoroge previously set a personal best in the 5K at the Foothills Invitational with a time of 15:46.1 before following up the performance with a team-leading time of 25:27.2 in the 8K. The mark moves Njoroge into 10th place in UWG history in the 8K.

Njoroge was followed by Noah Anderson, who crossed the finish line in 26:12.1 in UWG's first 8K of the season. Aiden Thaxton finished in 26:31.3, while Abenezer Woellore recorded a time of 27:00.0. Solomon Johnson rounded out the top five with a time of 27:14.1.

Aiden Pickett competed in his first 8K as a Wolf and crossed the finish line in 29:15.2. Jackson Harrell followed closely behind, also competing in his first 8K, with a time of 29:56.2.

The Wolves will return to action next Friday, September 25, at the Tryon Invitational in Mill Spring, N.C., at Tryon International Horse Park.
