CARROLLTON, Ga.- The University of West Georgia cross country teams will return to action Friday evening when the Wolves travel to Mill Spring, North Carolina, for the Tryon Invitational at Tryon International Horse Park. The women's 5K is scheduled for 6 p.m., followed by the men's 8K at 6:40 p.m.

The Wolves will compete against teams from the Big South and Southern Conference, among other Division I programs.

For the men, sophomore Alex Njoroge leads the Wolves after recording a personal best in each of UWG's first two meets. Njoroge opened the season with a 15:46.1 in the 5K at the Foothills Invitational before running a team leading 25:27.2 in the 8K at the Southern Showcase. His latest mark moved him into 10th place in UWG's all-time 8K record book.

Njoroge is followed by Noah Anderson with a time of 26:12.1, Aiden Thaxton at 26:31.3, Abenezer Woellore at 27:00.0 and Solomon Johnson at 27:14.1.

The Tryon Invitational will also feature five UWG freshmen in the men's field. Jackson Harrell is the only freshman on the roster to have competed in an 8K this season, recording a time of 29:56.2 at the Southern Showcase. Braeden Kerrane, Cash Driggers, Laton Chambers and Brennan Weatherington will look to compete in their first collegiate 8K.

On the women's side, senior Reatta Danhof continues to lead the Wolves after posting a 19:45.1 in the 5K Open at the Southern Showcase. Danhof owns a personal-best 18:21.8, which ranks third all-time in UWG history.

Linda Rivero follows Danhof with a 20:56.9 this season, while Haley Hartman owns a 21:22.4. Freshman Suri Lawrence has recorded a 22:25.1, followed by twin sister Jade Lawrence at 22:49.6.

Jade opened her collegiate career with a 22:28.0 at the Foothills Invitational, while Suri improved from 22:45.7 in the season opener to 22:25.1 at the Southern Showcase.
