West Georgia Opens UAC Play at UTA

CARROLLTON, Ga. - West Georgia volleyball gears up to kick off conference play this Thursday (Sept. 24), taking on UT Arlington in Texas, marking the program's first-ever UAC matchup. Streaming and live stat links for the 7 p.m. matchup are tagged on the UWG volleyball schedule.

After opening the Skyhawk Classic with a win this past weekend, UWG (4-8) fell in back-to-back road losses to host institution, UT Martin. On the other hand, UTA (6-6) secured a pair of wins over Jackson State and Louisiana Lafayette on Friday (Sept. 18) before falling to Mississippi State the following day (Sept. 19). It is also worth noting that UTA takes on a tough road test against Tarleton State two days before they face the Pack (Sept. 22).

Heading into Thursday's conference opener, West Georgia and the UAC are led in scoring by outside hitter Brooke McCall, with 172.5 points from a conference-high 154 kills. McCall enters UAC play riding an 11-match streak in which she has recorded double-digit points. Another Wolf putting up top-ten UAC figures is libero Giorgia Mandotti. She currently leads the Pack and ranks second in the league with 23 aces while ranking seventh in digs with 224 on the year. Mandotti is the lone Wolf from the Skyhawk Classic to make it on the All-Tournament Team this past weekend. She finished the weekend with 55 digs and six service aces.

12 games in, and UTA has been led in scoring by middle blocker Sophia Krichev with 155.5 points from 116 kills and a conference-high 62 blocks. Along with leading the UAC in blocks, she also ranks third in hitting percentage (.349) and sixth in total points. Following Krichev in scoring for UTA is outside hitter Evyn Snook with 145 points from a team-high 126 kills. This ranks her ninth in the conference in total points.

Thursday's matchup marks the first time UWG volleyball has faced UT Arlington. It also marks the first UAC match in program history.
