Carrollton, GA - Day two of the UWG volleyball trip through the northern part of Alabama wasn't as kind to the Wolves as Friday night, as Alabama-Huntsville took down West Georgia 3-0 at Spragins Hall in Huntsville, Ala.
The Wolves were looking to sweep the regular season series against their second straight Gulf South Conference opponent, as UWG beat North Alabama for the second time this year on Friday evening. With the loss, UWG falls to 11-10 on the year and 6-5 in GSC play.
West Georgia struggled in the first set against the Chargers, falling behind by a 9-3 score early, then UAH continued to put pressure on with a 15-6 lead. With the score 17-8 in the opening set, UAH was hitting .625 in the set while the Wolves were at .150. The Chargers kept the pressure up for the remainder of the set, winning 25-15.

In the second set, the two teams played to a draw for the first eight points, but with the score tied at 8-8, UAH went on a 9-4 run, taking a 17-12 lead in the set. The run continued, becoming a 17-8 run before the end of the match, as the Chargers won 25-15 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Helen Menchinger# led the Wolves with three kills in the second set and Holt added three more digs, giving her seven for the match.
In the third set, the Wolves looked to be in control early, as UWG took an 11-6 lead in the first half of the set. But UAH came charging back, tying the set at 15 and pulling ahead. The Chargers kept the Wolves at bay over the final points, taking the straight sets victory with a 25-22 victory.
Holt finished the match with 11 digs and is now one shy of tying Stephanie Singleton's school record of 1,414 digs. With two digs against UWF on Tuesday night at The Coliseum, Holt will become the all-time leader in digs at the University of West Georgia.
