Carrollton, GA - The home stretch of the 2013 season is here, as the West Georgia Wolves now have seven matches left in the campaign, beginning Tuesday evening with a battle against the 21st-ranked West Florida Argonauts. UWG will then head just under an hour up the road to Rome, Ga. on Friday evening to take on the Shorter Hawks.
The Wolves are coming off of a weekend split through northern Alabama, beating the North Alabama Lions 3-1 on Friday evening before a 3-0 loss to Alabama-Huntsville on Saturday afternoon. The win over UNA gave West Georgia the season sweep over the Lions for the second straight season and for the second time in the history of the series.
Overall this season, the Wolves are 11-9 with a 6-5 mark in Gulf South Conference play. West Georgia is currently third in the Gulf South Conference standings and are a half a game ahead of Christan Brothers (5-5) and a full game ahead of Alabama Huntsville (5-6). If the season were to end today, UWG would take on North Alabama in the GSC tournament.
West Georgia leads the GSC in team hitting percentage on the season at .214, just mere points ahead of West Florida (.212). The Wolves have the least errors per set on the season and the second-most kills in the conference on the year.

Melissa Holt# and #
Emily Reul# are the only Wolves leading in an individual category this season, with Holt averaging 5.21 digs per set and Reul with 0.46 service aces per set. Holt has 443 total digs on the season and needs 104 to set the school single season mark. She is two digs away from setting the UWG career record for digs. Holt currently has 1,413 and needs 1,414 to tie the record.
For Reul, she has 39 service aces on the season, which is the most for any UWG player in a single season since Micque Parker had 82 in the 2007 season.
West Florida Preview
The Argos come into Tuesday night's match at The Coliseum with a GSC leading 16-6 overall record on the year. West Florida is ranked 21st in the nation, according to the AVCA, and the Argos are 8-1 in Gulf South Conference play. This is the second meeting this season between the two teams, with UWF taking the first match 3-1 in Pensacola.
In that match in Pensacola, the Wolves and Argos played to a draw after two sets, but homestanding West Florida prevailed in the third and fourth sets to finish out the match.
West Florida boasts the top statistical team in the Gulf South Conference in terms of kills, assists, digs and blocks on the season. In addition to Autumn Duyn, the third-best hitter in terms of kills in the GSC, the Argonauts have four of the top five blockers in the conference as well.
