Carrollton, GA - The UWG volleyball squad played their second straight match against a Gulf South Conference newcomer Tuesday night in Cleveland, TN. The Wolves struggled against the powerful offensive attack of the Lee Flames, as UWG fell 3-0.
The Wolves have had troubles in three-set matches this season, as West Georgia has won just once in seven matches that have gone to three. That win came in the first weekend of the season against Notre Dame College at the UWG Invitational. The Wolves have also struggled since the September, as UWG is just 4-11 since the beginning of October.
In the team statistics, the Wolves hit just .111 in the match while Lee over .350. West Georgia also struggled in the serving game, as Lee had 11 service aces in the game while UWG had zero.
The first two sets were identical, as Lee won by a 25-15 count in each. In the third set, the Wolves kept things close and trailed by just two at 16-14, but a 9-5 run to close out the match at 25-19 finished things off for Lee. The loss drops UWG to 12-12 on the year with a 7-7 mark in Gulf South Conference play.
West Georgia will remain on the road in Gulf South Conference play this weekend, taking on Valdosta State in Valdosta on Saturday afternoon. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
