UWG Volleyball Preview: Valdosta State

Carrollton, GA - Four matches remain in the 2013 volleyball season for the West Georgia Wolves, as they travel to in-state rival Valdosta State. One road match and two home matches remain on the schedule.

This weekend, the Wolves have a tough test in the Blazers. VSU comes into the match with eight Gulf South Conference wins and the Blazers sit just ahead of West Georgia in the GSC standings. VSU is coming off a 3-1 win over Alabany State on Tuesday hitting .297 as a team.

The Wolves got the better of VSU in their last match winning in five sets in Carrollton. In that match, West Georgia took a quick 2-0 set lead but allowed the Blazers to win the next two to push the match to the deciding set. The Wolves finished of their rival with a 15-8 game five win.

This season has been one for the record books, with Holt breaking the career record for digs last week at home against West Florida. In addition, the Wolves' libero is close to breaking the single-season record for digs. She currently has 474 and needs 83 to break the school single season record. With an average of 4.99 digs per set on the year, Holt still has a chance to break that record, which was set in a season where the Wolves played four postseason matches.
