2014 Seasons Begin for UWG

Carrollton, GA - With 2013 in the rear view mirror, UWG looks towards the upcoming baseball and softball seasons that are set to start early this February. Today marks the start of both the baseball and softball seasons with the first day of practice.

Softball will begin their season on Wednesday, February 5 while facing Stillman in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Head Coach Mandy Harris will start her third season with the Wolves.

After Stillman, the Wolves will travel to Huntsville, Alabama to play in the Charger Chillout Tournament hosted by the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers. UWG will take on six non-conference opponents during the weekend of play.

The UWG Baseball team has a lot to look foward to this year as they return 13 players to the lineup and add some promising new faces to the team. Last season the Wolves finished the season with a record of 27-24 and had a conference record of 12-13. The team played well at home at Cole Field last year as opponents only had a .286 winning percentage, and UWG went on to finish with a 20-8 record.

Let us not forget about the year #Jamie Sexton# had in 2013. As a sophomore, Sexton was awarded to the 2013 All-GSC Baseball First Team. He finished the year with a 10-4 record, a 1.95 ERA, and finished 6 complete games out of his fifteen starts.

The UWG Baseball team opens it season on the road February 1 against the Montevallo Falcons in Montevallo, Alabama.
