Carrollton, GA - The UWG men's basketball team used a second half scoring burst to bring down the West Florida Argonauts by a score of 82-65 on Monday night in The Coliseum.
Marcus Dortch led the Wolves offensively, scoring a career-high 22 points as the Wolves improved to 11-3 overall and 6-3 in Gulf South Conference play.
West Georgia built an early lead in the first half, leading 17-8, before a 12-0 run from West Florida gave the Argos the lead. The Wolves and Argos spent the final ten minutes of the first half trading baskets, but UWG would take a 43-39 lead into the halftime break.
The Wolves came out running on all cylinders in the second half, outscoring the Wolves 39-26 in the final 20 minutes of the game.
Deonta Stocks added 19 points to the UWG effort as one of four Wolves who scored in double-figures on Monday night.
Alex Abreu scored 11 while
Emory Bernard added 10 points along with Dortch's 22. Jovany Austin was big again scoring eight points and pulling down seven rebounds.
The Wolves will be back in action on Thursday night, January 15, as they take on North Alabama in more GSC action. Thursday's tip-time is set for 7:30 p.m. from The Coliseum.
