ORLANDO, Fla. - The West Georgia Wolves volleyball team concluded the GSC/SSC Crossover on Saturday with a 3-0 setback to Florida Tech on the campus of Rollins College.
Florida Tech powered past West Georgia in the opening set, winning 25-11 to take an early lead.
It was a 25-17 win in the second set for the Panthers who went on an 8-2 run midway through the set to take a comanding lead. The Wolves fought back with a 6-0 run, but in the end it was Florida Tech who took the set and a 2-0 lead in the match.
The third set started with a burst by FIT to gain a 8-2 lead, before the Wolves battled back for a 10-10 tie. From there it was a back-and-forth affair before Florida Tech pulled away for a 25-19 victory in the set and a 3-0 win.
Paige Berriochoa led the Wolves with nine kills as
Autumn Burnette added five.
Madi Fleming had 13 assists to lead the Wolves.
UWG travels to North Alabama for their next action on Tuesday, October 18 at 8 p.m.
