Volleyball falls in Florence against UNA

Carrollton, GA - The West Georgia Wolves ran into another 3-0 result in Gulf South Conference volleyball on Tuesday evening, falling to the North Alabama Lions at Flowers Hall in Florence, Ala. The loss moves UWG to 4-18 on the year and 1-11 in Gulf South Conference action.

It was the ninth time in 12 Gulf South Conference matches that UWG has had a 3-0 result this season, with the bulk of those going the opposite direction. The Wolves are 1-8 in those matches, with the only conference win of the season coming on a 3-0 result to Lee in Carrollton earlier this fall.

Paige Berriochoa had six kills and Madi Fleming dished out 12 assists in the loss. North Alabama took the first set of the match 25-16 in what was the closest set of the three. The Lions came back strong in the second set with a 25-11 victory, then finished off the match with a 25-14 win in the third set. The Wolves held close to the Lions in the third set, trailing by two at 13-11 before UNA scored 10 straight points to take a commanding 23-11 lead.

West Georgia returns to the road this weekend, taking on West Florida on Friday evening, followed by a trip to Valdosta State on Sunday afternoon. First serve from Pensacola on Friday is at 8:00 p.m., followed by a 1:00 p.m. start on Sunday.
