Carrollton, GA - The West Georgia Wolves lost their eighth straight match on Friday evening in Pensacola, FL, falling victim by a 3-0 count to the West Florida Argonauts in Gulf South Conference volleyball action at the UWF Field House.

The Wolves struggled on the offensive end, hitting .101 for the match, but it was the West Florida offense that was on display on this night. The Argos hit .567 as a team in the match, committing just three hitting errors to 41 kills in 67 attempts.

Faith Pearson picked up the first three points of the match for the Wolves, connecting on a kill followed by back-to-back service aces to give the Wolves an early 3-1 lead. The two teams fought back-and-forth for the first 20 points on the set, but with the score knotted at 10-10, UWF went on a 15-3 run to take a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-13 victory. That dominance continued into the second set, as the Argos committed zero errors and hit .706 as a team en route to a 25-9 victory and a 2-0 lead in the match.

Service aces were the name of the game again in the third set, as the Wolves took a 7-3 lead on the strength of back-to-back service aces from Haylea Mannebach. The Argos again retook the lead at the 10-10 mark, but this time, the Wolves stayed close, as UWF led by a slim 21-18 margin late in the match. But West Florida defending their court well, winning the final set 25-19.

The loss moves the Wolves to 4-19 on the year and 1-12 in Gulf South Conference play, while the Argos move to 16-6 and 10-1 against GSC competition. West Georgia will remain on the road for the weekend, taking on Valdosta State on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. UWG will return home next weekend for a three-game home swing to close out the home schedule, beginning next Thursday with the West Alabama Tigers.
