Carrollton, Ga - The 2016 UWG Volleyball season officially opens this weekend in Columbus, Ga as the Wolves take on three teams in two days. The Wolves will start the weekend with a 7:00 p.m. match on Friday against Converse. They will continue match play on Saturday facing Anderson first at 10:00 a.m. and Clark Atlanta to follow at 12:30 p.m.

Trina Braden looks to lead the Wolves to a strong start for her third season with the program.
Jaida Allen returns for her senior season after leading the team in blocks last year. Braden returns nine players and added five freshmen to help lead the program success this year. Incoming outside hitter

Madi Fleming are expected to make a strong offensive debut this weekend.
This weekend will be a huge start for the Wolves as they work through their line ups for the first time in true match play. Afterward, they will have a five day break before they head to Louisville, Kentucky for a four-match weekend on September 9.
Converse at a Glance
The Valkyries finished the 2015 season 4-22 overall and 1-15 in conference play. Only three seniors lead a very young team of nine freshmen, one sophomore, and three juniors. After Converse takes on West Georgia they will take on host Columbus State and Clark Atlanta on Saturday.
Anderson at a Glance
The Trojans finished 11-18 overall and 9-13 in conference play, finished their season in the SAC quarterfinals against Carson-Newman. Head Coach Gene Krieger will lead the team in his first season at Anderson University. AU will open their season Friday night against Clark Atlanta and then will close up the tournament against Armstrong State at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Clark Atlanta at a Glance
The Panthers finished last season 14-14 overall, including a loss against our West Georgia Wolves in their opening weekend. They lost in the second round of conference tournament play last year against Claflin University. A solid five seniors return to the lead the Panthers this season. Clark Atlanta opens up with Anderson on Friday afternoon before taking on UWG and then closing out with Converse on Saturday afternoon.
The Wolves will look to get off to a good start this season when they take on Converse on Friday night at 7 p.m.
