Carrollton, GA - After finishing 1-3 on the weekend in Louisville, Kentucky, UWG Volleyball is back in action this week with their first conference match of the season. The Wolves are traveling to Huntsville, Alabama, to play against UAH at 8 p.m. tomorrow night.
The Chargers have had a strong 5-1 start to the 2016 season. They opened 3-0 at their own opening tournament and finished 1-3 this past weekend in tournament play in Nashville, Tennessee. UAH seems to be handling the loss of five key seniors from 2015 very well. Anna Claire Johnson returns on the outside, already producing 75 kills this year in their first six games. Anna LeDuc and Lorah Yonce are also outside hitters to watch with 2.67 and 1.95 kills per set respectively. Newcomer Caroline Sanford is making a huge difference on the court at middle blocker with an average 2.22 kills per set. Haley Hop returns in the libero jersey for the chargers, tallying 80 digs in their first two tournaments.
The Wolves are coming off of a 1-3 weekend of competitive tournament play in Louisville, Kentucky.
Jaida Allen had an outstanding weekend offensively and defensively, producing 21 total blocks and 18 total kills. She achieved new career highs of seven blocks and 12 kills against Ohio Valley on Saturday, moving her average blocks per set up to an impressive 1.04.
Devon Dickey found a home in the libero jersey for the weekend, tallying 58 digs. She also achieved a new career high against Ohio Valley with 19 total digs in the match.
Madi Fleming led the team at the setter position, finishing with an impressive 101 assists. Freshman
McKenna Wharton continued to shine on the outside, producing 31 total kills, but returner
Katie Hanson led offensively with 46 kills on the weekend.
