Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla. - UWG Volleyball's season came to an end on Friday after a 3-1 loss to the Montevallo Falcons.
West Georgia struggled on the attack today as the Wolves produced a .118 hitting percentage which is their lowest in six matches while Montevallo posted a hitting percentage of .188 to take down UWG in four sets.
Falcons 25, Wolves 17
West Georgia got off to a very slow start in the first set, and Montevallo took advantage as they took a 10-4 lead early. UWG started to get it going as an attack error from the Falcons sparked a 3-0 run to cut the deficit to three before Montevallo countered with a 9-4 to extend their lead to seven. The Wolves fought to stay in the set, but the deficit was just too big to overcome as Montevallo took the set 25-17.
Falcons 25, Wolves 18
West Georgia began to find their footing in the second set as they took an 11-7 lead to begin. Montevallo fired back by going on a demoralizing 10-3 run to take a 17-14 lead. UWG responded with a 3-1 run to make it a one-point game in the set until the Falcons ended the set with a 7-1 run.
Wolves 25, Falcons 20
With their backs against the wall, the Wolves put together their best stretch of the match to begin the third set as West Georgia took a 13-4 lead to begin. The Falcons found their flow midway through the set and cut the UWG lead five with the score sitting at 19-14.  The Wolves responded by rattling off five straight points to get to set point before Montevallo rattled off six points of their own. A kill from Taylor Spradley ended the set and kept West Georgia alive.
Falcons 25, Wolves 16
Montevallo was a step ahead of UWG in the fourth set as they took a 11-6 lead. An attack error from the Falcons sparked a 4-0 run for the Wolves to cut the deficit to one before Montevallo put the set out of reach with an 11-2 run. West Georgia  battled to stay in the match until a kill from the Falcons ended the set and the match.
Taylor Spradley led the Wolves offensively with a team-high 11 kills with Emilee Harris right behind her with 10. Autumn Mayes dished out a team-high 32 assists and collected a team-high 21 dig while Claire Conway collected a team-high four blocks.
