Box Score CARROLLTON, Ga. - It was a rough road trip for West Georgia Baseball as they dropped game three of the series by a score of 4-3.
Austyn Wright got the pill from
Jeff Smith in the series finale, going 4.2 innings, allowing three runs, four hits, four walks, and six strikeouts.
After both pitchers put zeros on the board in the first, the Wolves struck first in the second.
Logan Fink and
Davis Schwartz produced back-to-back singles to put runners at the corners with nobody out.
Jackson Webb put the ball on the ground in the next at bat to bring home Fink. Later in the inning,
Sam Ladner doubled into the left center gap to bring home
Collin Moore, putting the Wolves up 2-0 early.
In the bottom half, the Chargers got on the board themselves after a lead off walk and a single set them up with runners at second and third with no outs. A sac fly brought home a run, ending the second inning with the Wolves still leading 2-1.
Scoring would be halted until the 5th, when the Chargers tied the game with a solo home run, and took the lead later in the inning scoring off of a wild pitch, making the score 3-2 after five innings.
In the top of the eighth, the Wolves would get the tying run to third after
Anthony Calabro drew a walk and
Brody Wortham got on by an infield single. Calabro took third on a wild pitch, but Wortham was unable to advance. Later in the inning, it came back to haunt West Georgia after
Jonathan Logsdon grounded into a double play, ending the scoring chance.
In the bottom half, the Chargers added to their lead after a balk call brought home the fourth run of the game for UAH. A double play would end the inning for the Wolves, as the Chargers led 4-2 going into the final inning.
In the ninth,
Logan Fink got the inning started with a lead off double, and came around to score on a pinch hit single by
Fuzzy Furr. That was all the Wolves got in the inning, as they dropped game three by a score of 4-3.
The Wolves are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Milledgeville, Ga to take on Georgia College. First pitch is set for 4p.m.
