Box Score CARROLLTON, Ga. – West Georgia Baseball dropped game one of their series with Valdosta State, losing 16-3 on Friday night.

West Georgia (16-15, 7-11 GSC) only mustered six hits in the entire ballgame, and two of them came in the very first inning.

After Sam Ladner reached on a dropped third strike and Jonathan Logsdon singled, Collin Moore put the Wolves on top 3-0 with a home run to left center field.

Robert Coleman would make the start on the mound in game one, and he did not have the outing he would have liked, only going four innings, allowing seven hits, five walks, six earned runs, and only striking out three.

Valdosta State (22-8, 13-5 GSC) got on the scoreboard in the third inning, thanks to a sac fly and and RBI single, making the game 3-2 after three innings of play.

After tying the game in the fourth, the Blazers opened the floodgates in the fifth, striking for five runs on seven hits, making the score 8-3 going into the sixth.

In the sixth, EJ Doskow, the GSC's leading hitter, would hit a two-run home run, pushing the lead to 10-3.

In the eighth, it was another huge inning for the Blazers, as they got six more runs to officially put the game out of reach at a score of 16-3. The Wolves would go down in order in the bottom half of the eighth, ending the game one inning early.

The series will conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1p.m. from Cole Field.
