CARROLLTON, Ga. – One week into her UWG career, women's basketball standout Jada Powell has earned a Gulf South Conference weekly award, earning Player of the Week honors as announced by the league today.

Powell, a graduate transfer from Des Moines, Iowa recorded a pair of double-doubles in UWG's 2-0 start to the season last weekend, averaging 13.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.

Against Albany State in the season opener, Powell had 14 points and 13 rebounds to go with five assists and a block. The next day, she dropped 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in a win over Tuskegee. For the week, Powell shot 10-of-15 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line.

Powell and the Wolves are back in action on Saturday, hosting Talladega in a 2 p.m. contest from The Coliseum.
