Calabro Knocks in Five, Propels Wolves Past Flames

Box Score CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The University of West Georgia Baseball team picked up their second Gulf South Conference series win in as many weeks, defeating the Lee Flames 16-6 in game three on Saturday afternoon.

Through the first three innings, the offensive woes for the Wolves (0-0, 0-0 GSC) as they only mustered one hit, a Cooper Prince single in the second inning.

The Flames (0-0, 0-0 GSC) took an early lead in the bottom of the second inning, taking advantage of a UWG error and wild pitch to score the games first run. Jordan limited the damage to just one, despite having runners at first and second.

The Wolves had their first threat of the game in the fourth inning after a Henry Daniels singled followed by an Anthony Calabro walk. Logan Fink moved Daniels to third with a sac fly, and Cooper Prince delivered a 2 RBI triple to put the Wolves ahead. Jared Emory deposited the first pitch of his at bat into center field to score Prince and extend the UWG lead to two. The rally got cut short however, as a catchers interference provided two outs for the Flames, ending the inning.

The Wolves once again put a crooked number on the scoreboard in the fifth, striking for five runs. Presnell led the inning off with a walk followed by a single from Ladner. Hohl grounded into a fielder's choice, leaving the Wolves with first and second one out. Back to back hits from Daniels and Calabro scored three runs in the inning, all with just one out, forcing a Lee pitching change. The Wolves were not done as Prince added a sac fly and a Jackson Webb RBI single put UWG up 8-2. Lee added one run in the bottom half and sent us to the sixth inning with the Wolves up 8-3.

UWG continued the hit parade in the sixth adding five more runs. After a Ladner walk and Hohl was hit by a pitch, Daniels doubled down the line to score Ladner, and Calabro hit his third home run of the weekend that added three more runs. Prince reached on an error later in the inning and came around to score on a passed ball making it 13-3 in favor of the Wolves. Lee responded with a two RBI double in the bottom half making the score 13-5 after six innings of play.

The Wolves immediately answered in the top of the seventh with two runs of their own thanks to a two RBI single by Logan Fink. Lee would not go quietly as a solo home run from Brandon Daniels kept the game going into the eighth.

Neither side produced anything in the eighth, and Carson Crossley finished the Flames off in order in the ninth, securing the 16-6 victory. Daniels and Emory led the way offensively with three hits a piece, as six Wolves recorded multiple hits. Calabro drove in a game high five runs, with Fink and Prince adding three a piece.
