Box Score GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The wins continue to roll in for UWG Baseball as they secured their sixth win in a row and their seventh straight midweek victory, defeating the Tusculum Pioneers 6-2 on Tuesday night. 
 
Right out of the gates, Sam Ladner got the party started with his second lead off home run of the season and his fifth overall, which started a string of four straight Wolves reaching base. Anthony Calabro later singled home Cade Hohl, giving the Wolves (21-4, 9-3 GSC) an early 2-0 lead. 
 
The Pioneers (18-10, 8-4 SAC) put some traffic on the bases right back in the bottom half of the first using an error and a double to put two runners in scoring position. Starter Andrew Smith worked out of the jam, preserving the lead into the second. 
 
Jared Emory led the second inning off with a double, and two batters later touched home plate on a sac fly from Edgar Cruz. Lander kept the inning going with a double off the wall, but Hohl fouled out to end the inning. In the bottom half, Smith surrendered a one out single but nothing else, sending the game to the third with a 3-0 lead. 
 
In the fourth, Jared Emory continued his hot streak at the plate, sending his third home run of the season out of left field, making it 4-0 UWG. Later in the inning, Jackson Webb singled and Cruz was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second with no outs. The Wolves would get just the one in the inning as the top of the order got sat down in order. 
 
The Pioneers got on the board for the first time in the bottom of the fourth taking advantage of two walks from Smith and using a two out single from McCauley to cut into the UWG lead. That single would also mark the end of the line for Smith, as Dominic Murgo was called on to get the final out of the fourth. Murgo struck out the only batter he faced, limiting the damage to just one. 
 
After sitting down the Wolves in order to start the fifth, Tusculum got right back to work offensively with a lead off double which moved to third on a wild pitch. The run came across to score with a groundout from Scartz. Murgo settled into the inning getting the next two outs in order, sending us to the sixth with a 4-2 lead for UWG. 
 
Both sides continued to get sporadic runners on through the eighth, but neither side could push anymore runs across. 
 
In the ninth inning, Hohl delivered a one out single and later stole second, and two batters later, Calabro drew a two out walk. The Wolves finally got back on the scoreboard thanks to a double from Logan Fink, scoring both runners and giving UWG a four run cushion going into the bottom half. Rasmussen, who took over in the seventh on the mound, got the first two outs in the bottom of the ninth, but after surrendering a two out walk, Ronny Piepmeier came in to slam the door on the Pioneers. The first batter he faced popped up to Hohl at short to end the game and secure the sixth win in a row for the Wolves. 
 
Four Wolves finished with two hits in the victory, including Emory and Ladner who both had home runs. Fink led the team in RBI's with two big ones in the top of the ninth. Nick Morgan, Raasmussen, and Piepmeier combined for four innings of shutout relief, allowing just three hits and striking out three.
 
These same two teams will finish out this quick two game series tomorrow afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
