Women's Golf Posts 10th-Best GPA in Division II

CARROLLTON, Ga. – Once again, the UWG's women's golf team has posted the highest team GPA in the Gulf South Conference, and in 2023, the Wolves had the 10th-best cumulative GPA in all of Division II.

"This marks the third year in a row ranked inside the top 25 in team GPA and marks the second year in a row inside the top 10 in the country," said head coach Kristen Golightly. "Our program standard of academic excellence has been set by this group year in and year out. I think that is showcased by how many All-American Academic Scholars this program has over the past decade."

The Wolves' 3.779 GPA was the highest team GPA across all teams at the University of West Georgia, and earlier this month, four Wolves were named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar list.

The WGCA announced the top-25 team GPAs in the country with St. Mary's (TX) claiming the top spot in Division II with a 3.925 GPA.

"While we may get new players into our program, each player knows coming into that there is a standard to uphold on the field and in the classroom," added Golightly, "I credit it to them but also Emily Hall and David Haase who work with our student athletes as well. They are just as deserving of credit as the athletes themselves who work tirelessly to make this achievement possible."
