CARROLLTON, Ga. – A midweek non-conference test at Augusta awaits the UWG tennis team as the Wolves travel to Augusta on Tuesday for a 1 p.m. battle with the Augusta Jaguars.
West Georgia (2-3) fell to a pair of ranked teams last week in Auburn Montgomery and Georgia College, but look to get back in the win column and snap a three-game skid against Augusta (4-2).
The Wolves did get a 2-0 week from
Karla Menendez in singles play, as the senior won her match against AUM and GCSU. West Georgia also got a point from
Lea von Kozierowski in the AUM match and a point from
Sophie Mnich in the GCSU loss.
Head coach
Rhonda Bush used the same doubles pairs in both matches last week with von Kozierowski and
Futaba Saito teaming up to win the only match, taking second doubles over GCSU in line two.
Augusta comes in winning four consecutive matches, most recently taking a 7-0 decision over USC Sumter. Juliana Martinez is the Jags' top singles player, coming in with a 4-2 record. In doubles, Martinez and Andrea Gonzalez have the best mark at 3-1 in line one doubles.
First serve is set for 1 p.m. from Augusta, Georgia.
