UWG Women Make Long Road Trip for Regular Season Finale

CARROLLTON, Ga. – The UWG women's basketball team knows they're in to next week's Gulf South Conference Tournament, but a win on Saturday at Delta State in the regular season finale would push the Wolves to the fifth-seed.

The Wolves and Lady Statesmen meet in Cleveland, Mississippi on Saturday at 3 p.m. EST. Delta State is still playing for their tournament lives as a win gets them in on the final day of the season.

LAST TIME OUT
West Georgia (16-11, 12-11 GSC) wrapped up their home schedule with a 69-49 victory over Mississippi College, wrapping up their final Division II season with an 11-4 mark inside The Coliseum.

Aliyah Washington led all scorers with 21 points, while K'Nari Holliday had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Zuriyah Davis and Jada Powell also were in double-figures with 14 and 11, respectively.

SCOUTING THE LADY STATESMEN
Delta State (13-14, 11-12 GSC) have lost three straight games, including back-to-back losses to their in-state rival and the last team UWG played, Mississippi College.

Jayla Smith leads DSU in scoring at 10.0 per game, and also is second on DSU's team on the glass with 5.7 rebounds per game. Grace Watson leads DSU in rebounding with 6.6 per game and is third on the team in scoring at 8.6 per game.

Delta State boasts the fourth-best scoring defense in the league, allowing just 61.5 points per game.

SCOUTING THE WOLVES
West Georgia will bring the league's third best scoring offense into the game against one of the top defenses, and look to avenge a January loss at home.

The Wolves' 68.6 points per game features 16.7 per game from Zuriyah Davis and 12.1 per game from K'Nari Holliday. Holliday leads the country in field goal percentage, entering the game with a 63.2 percent clip while Davis is top-10 in the country in three-pointers made and three-pointers per game.

Jada Powell leads UWG and ranks second in the GSC in rebounding at 8.0 per game, while Holliday is second on the team and fourth in the conference at 7.0 per contest.

SERIES HISTORY
Walter Sillers Coliseum has been a tough place for UWG to play historically as the Wolves have won just three times in school history in Cleveland, including last season's 50-49 victory. Delta State bested UWG in Carrollton earlier this season and the all-time mark rests in DSU's favor at 39-11.
