Wolves Make Major Strides in Second Year of Division I

CARROLLTON, Ga. - University of West Georgia women's basketball wrapped up the 2025-26 season improving their overall record, conference record and total ASUN accolades in their second year competing at the Division I level.

Coming off an astounding 13-17, 7-11 ASUN record in their inaugural season of DI competition, UWG topped it with an 18-13, 10-8 ASUN record in their second year. This marked the most wins for the program since the 2019-20 season. Not only did they reach the 18-win mark, but the Wolves also defended The Coliseum better than any UWG team that played before them, finishing with a program-best 12-3 home win total.

Finishing the year with a 16-13 record against DI competition, the Wolves also boast that they recorded the sixth-highest win percentage (.533) of any reclassifying team in their second year of the DI transition since 2000.

The team's improvement didn't stop there. Building on a ninth-seed ASUN Tournament bid in year one, UWG added three more conference wins this season to earn a seventh-seed bid in the conference tournament. In Jacksonville, the Wolves earned their first-ever postseason victory in the DI era by knocking out No. 10 North Florida Ospreys to advance to the ASUN Quarterfinals.

West Georgia had many highlight moments throughout the season. One of the biggest wins was a 63-58 victory over Florida Gulf Coast, snapping the Eagles' 58-game ASUN win streak. This streak took FGCU two and a half seasons to build. In the Wolves' dominant win over Wesleyan, UWG set program records for most points scored (116), fewest points allowed (21) and the largest margin of victory (95). The Carrollton community and UWG fans also broke the single game attendance record (2,267) in the Wolves' win over UNC Wilmington.

West Georgia's team success was complemented by individual accolades. For the first time in program history, junior guard Sydne Tolbert was unanimously selected First Team All-ASUN.

Fueled by a conference-best 44 percent field goal rate, the Louisville native finished the season ranking sixth in the ASUN with a 14.7 points per game average. Tolbert also wrapped up the year recording the third-best assist-turnover ratio (1.3) after totaling the seventh-highest assists per game average (3.1 APG). The guard can also brag that she earned ASUN Player of the Week in early January after averaging back-to-back 19-point nights. Tolbert matched her on-court performance in the classroom, resulting in an Academic All-ASUN selection.

Guard Grace O'Gara and forward Gal-la Font also earned spots on the Academic All-ASUN team. Tolbert, O'Gara and Font also earned CSC Academic All-District.

Four other Wolves joined Tolbert on the ASUN leaderboards.

Senior forward Jasmine Jones attacked from beyond the arc at an ASUN-best 37 percent three-point clip while also draining a conference-high 3.1 threes per game. Not only did she lead the league in made threes average, but this figure also ranked her fourth nationally. The Carrollton native opened up her UWG career earning ASUN Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week after averaging 25.5 points on over 60 percent shooting in a two-game span. Jones would earn Newcomer of the Week one more time after dropping 26 points in the Wolves' win over FGCU and then 21 points in the win against Stetson. The forward finished the year ranking tenth in the ASUN with a 13.8 points per game average.

Backed by the third-best ASUN field goal percentage (44 percent), sophomore guard Asia Donald led the team and ranked third in the conference in scoring average (14.8 PPG). Sophomore forward Destiny Jones led the ASUN in rebounds per game (8.7 RPG) and finished sixth in the league in steals per game (1.8 SPG). O'Gara rounded out the Pack of Wolves who placed on the ASUN top-ten leaderboards by averaging the fifth-most assists (3.4 APG) and recording the fifth-best assist-turnover ratio (1.3).

From overall team success to individual accolades, UWG built upon their solid DI foundation with an even better second season competing at the highest division.
