Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of West Georgia Baseball team fell in Sunday's rubber match to the Montevallo Falcons, 22-6 on the road.
The Montevallo (13-9, 5-4 ) bats were the story of the day as they put up 22 runs on 17 hits on the West Georgia (11-10 7-5 GSC) pitching staff.
The scoring began early for the Falcons as they would score seven runs in the bottom of the first. Garrett Moody, who started for the Wolves, didn't get through the opening inning, allowing five runs off four hits.
The Wolves bats didn't lay down early, as in the top of the second, Sam Ladner hit a two run homerun, and Jackson Webb hit a solo homer right after to cut the deficit to 7-3.
The pitching woes would continue for the Wolves as they would give up runs in the bottom of second and third inning as Montevallo went up 9-3 and eventually stretching the advantage to 14-3.
The Wolves get back on the board in the top of the sixth, as Patrick McCullough hit a solo homer to cut the Falcon deficit to 14-4. UWG would score again to make the score 14-5, but the Montevallo bats had more offense in them, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to have a 22-5 lead.
The Wolves would get one in the top of the 7th, but that was all it was as the game was called after seven innings.
West Georgia will be back in action at Cole Field this Wednesday against the University of North Georgia.
