10/31/2025 11:15:00 AM

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The University of West Georgia men's cross country team delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 ASUN Championships, improving from last year's 10th place finish to take ninth overall and continuing to make program history. The Wolves recorded an average team time of 25:28, marking their fastest collective performance in the Division I  era.

Graduate standout Griffin Stephens once again led the charge for the Wolves, finishing in 30th place with a time of 24:40.9. The performance not only outperformed his own UWG record of 24:45.8, set at last year's ASUN Championships, but also cemented his place in program history as the fastest runner ever to wear the Wolves uniform. Stephens ends his collegiate career as one of the most consistent and accomplished runners in school history.

Every returning runner for the Wolves posted faster times than they did at last year's championship, showing remarkable growth. Noah Anderson turned in one of the biggest improvements of the day, finishing with a time of 24:57.7 after running 26:15.4 in 2024. Abenezer Woellore continued that trend, improving from 26:45.9 to 25:57.3, while Aiden Thaxton made a major jump from 27:19.9 to 26:06.9. Solomon Johnson followed with a time of 26:27.5, faster than his 26:46.4 from last season, and Evan Beasley rounded out the group of returners with a time of 27:08.4, improving from 27:42.7 in 2024.

The Wolves also benefited from several new faces who made their ASUN Championship debuts. Freshman standout Alex Njoroge impressed in his first ASUN championship race, earning a time of 25:34.9 to finish 60th overall and secure the third fastest time on the team. Felipe Barrios followed with a time of 26:35.2, while Jesse Baldwin finished in 26:58.5. Freshman Parker Ferguson rounded out the lineup with a time of 28:10.4.

With every returning runner improving their time and newcomers adding valuable depth, the Wolves took another step forward as a program. Under the direction of head coach Ryan Bailey, the team concluded their 2025 season in historic fashion.
