ASUN Action Continues in The Coliseum

11/10/2025 10:52:00 AM

CARROLLTON, Ga. - West Georgia volleyball is set to host Queens in The Coliseum this Wednesday (Nov. 12) at 6 p.m. in the final weekday match of the 2025 campaign. Streaming is available on ESPN+ with a link tagged above. Tickets can be purchased here.

Coming off its last road trip of the season, UWG (2-25, 0-14 ASUN) welcomes Queens (16-11, 7-7 ASUN) to the City of Dreams, a team that is currently riding a two-game losing streak. Earlier this season (Oct. 22), the Royals beat the Wolves 3-0 at their home gym to push the Queens all-time series advantage to 3-0.

Leading the Pack in scoring with only two matches remaining is outside hitter Valiree Schmus with 259.5 points, fueled by a team-high 223 kills and 23 service aces. After missing this past weekend's matches, it is currently unclear if the freshman will be playing this Wednesday. In her latest match (Nov. 2), Schmus recorded a career-high 20 points and 17 kills against FGCU. Following just behind Schmus with 227.5 points and 201 kills is right side hitter Grace-Blythe Cornett. In the last four matches, Cornett has scored double digits three times, marking ten times this season she has achieved this feat. The last time the Wolves faced Queens (Oct. 22), Cornett led the Pack with seven points. As a unit, the Wolves have recorded a .135 hitting percentage and a .893 reception percentage this season.

For the Royals, Queens is led in scoring by freshman outside hitter Elizabeth Layson with 292.5 points and 263 kills, which places her eighth in kills and ninth in points in the ASUN. In the Wolves' loss to Queens earlier this year, Layson led the Royals with 11 points and 11 kills. As a team, the Royals have done a solid job at the net, recording 228 blocks, which is the second-most in the conference. On the individual leaderboard, right side hitter Emma Norris ranks fourth in the ASUN with 105 blocks and middle blocker Camryn Teasley places ninth with 69 blocks. While Wednesday's match will be the first against the Wolves for Teasley, the last time the two teams met, Norris finished with 10.5 points and eight kills. Norris has tallied 291 points (tenth in the ASUN) and 222 kills this season. As a team, the Royals have posted a .214 hitting percentage and a .942 reception percentage.
