CARROLLTON, Ga. - Head coach Jeff Smith and the West Georgia baseball program announced its 2026 schedule today.
Featuring 24 home games and 31 road games, the Wolves look to build off its 20-31 inaugural DI campaign. To learn more about where that first season's record in DI falls compared to other recent transitioning teams, click here.Â
"Like each year, we are excited to get going," said Smith. "
I'm excited about the trips that we have to Wichita State, to Auburn, to Tech (Georiga Tech), down to South Alabama. I think they're going to be big for us in our guys' confidence and experience level to help us get a good start into the ASUN when we come back and start March."Â
Kicking off the season with a home four-game series against Central Michigan (Feb.13-15), UWG looks to start the 2026 campaign with a win against a school the Wolves have never played. This series features the only home games before conference play.Â
Following the home series, UWG hits the road for the first away game of the season to face off against Kennesaw State (Feb. 17). The Wolves will host the Owls later in the year in a midweek matchup (April 21). Last year, KSU won both head-to-heads.Â
Continuing the 13-game road stretch, UWG travels to Arkansas to face Little Rock in a three-game series (Feb. 20-22). Interestingly, ULR recently announced plans to join the United Athletic Conference, which is partnered with the Atlantic Sun.
The Pack will then head to the Plains to take on Auburn University in a midweek matchup (Feb. 25), before traveling to South Alabama to face the Jaguars in a three-game series to round out February and take the Wolves into March (Feb. 27- March 1).
In the final away series of the huge road swing, UWG goes head-to-head with Wichita State in Kansas (March 6-8) in a four-game series, a team the Pack has never faced.
Prior to returning to Cole Field, the Wolves will close out the road stretch at Georgia Tech (March 10). GT beat UWG in Atlanta last season in the lone matchup.
Opening conference play at home, West Georgia hosts Jacksonville University in the first ASUN series of the season (March 13-15). The Wolves will head to the Sunshine State later in the year (April 17-19) to take on the Dolphins in Jacksonville. UWG went 1-5 against JU last season.Â
UWG will play each of the ASUN Graphite Division teams in a home and away three-game series in this order: JU, Stetson, Queens, Florida Gulf Coast and North Florida.Â
Discussing the conference-slate, Smith had this to say, "The
Graphite Division is extremely tough. And so it's gonna be a great, great challenge for us. I think the biggest keys are, can we stay healthy?" Â
Â
The Wolves will take on Stetson in Deland (March 20-22), before welcoming the 2025 ASUN Champions to Cole Field later in the season (April 24-25). UWG finished 1-5 against the Hatters last year.
The next ASUN series will kick off with the Wolves taking on Queens in Charlotte (March 27-29). The Wolves will welcome the Royals to the City of Dreams later in the season (May 1-3). UWG finished 3-3 against Queens last year.
Following each of the Queens' series, the next ASUN matchup will feature UWG vs Florida Gulf Coast. The first time the teams will meet is at Cole Field (April 2-4), before battling in Fort Myers in the second to last regular season series (May 8-10). Last season, both squads secured a three-game sweep over each other.
The Wolves' final series of the season will be against the Ospreys of North Florida. UWG will host UNF (April 10-12) before closing out the regular season taking on the Ospreys on their home turf (May 14-16). UNF went 1-5 against UWG last year.
Once ASUN-play starts (March 13), the Wolves non-conference slate features two home-and-home series and three one-off midweek matchups.Â
In the first home-and-home, West Georgia faces Georgia State (March 17) in Atlanta, prior to UWG welcoming the Panthers to Cole Field later on in the season (April 14). The Wolves went 1-1 last year against GSU.
The final home-and-home series of the season features UWG vs Mercer in the first head-to-head series against the Bears of the DI era. The series will start off with the Bears visiting Carrollton (March 24) before the Wolves head to Macon later on in the season (April 7).Â
The remaining one-off games feature the Wolves hosting Samford at Cole Field (March 31), traveling to face Tennessee in Knoxville (April 28) and welcoming UAB to Carrollton (May 5).Â
The ASUN Championship Tournament is set to take place at Melching Field at Conrad Park in Deland, Florida in mid-May (May 19-23).
