Box Score 2 YOUNGSVILLE, La. – The UWG softball team ran into two elite pitchers on Saturday at the Mardi Gras Mambo, combining for just nine hits in a pair of losses.
In game one, the Wolves fell 2-0 to Southeastern Louisiana before dropping a late game to Stephen F. Austin by a 13-0 final. To open the day, the Wolves surrendered a pair of first inning runs to SLU before the offense was limited to just four hits.
The Wolves' best scoring threat came in the fourth when they loaded the bases before stranding them with nothing to show.
Calli Hardison and
Dixiana Sims combined for a solid outing despite the loss.
Hardison started the game, was charged with the decision, pitching three innings. Sims tossed three innings of two-hit relief.
In game two, SFA scored six runs in the second and seven runs in the fifth to cruise to a five-run victory.
West Georgia needed four pitchers in the loss, and surrendered eight walks as a staff. Offensively, the Wolves had five hits spread through five different players in the lineup.
The Wolves return tomorrow to wrap the Mardi Gras Mambo against Houston Christian at 11 a.m.
