JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - West Georgia women's track and field concluded the program's first-ever ASUN Outdoor Track and Field Championship in seventh place with 68 points and a meet MVP.
Freshman
Day Atkins was named the weekend's Most Valuable Player for her podium performances across all of her events. She finished the week earning gold in the discus with a 45.71m throw and bronze in both the hammer and shot put with marks of 49.21m and 13.55m.
Some of the final day's highlights include
Chloe Leblanc setting a new UWG record in 400m hurdles with a 1:00.64 mark to earn third place and six points for the Wolves.
Three UWG vaulters earned points for the team.
Carleigh Bynum's 3.68m podium mark was the second-best which earned the team eight points,
Emily Jones' 3.33m vault earned the team four points and
Mallory Peavey's 3.18m mark gained the Wolves two points.
Following yesterday's outstanding showing, multiple West Georgia throwers gained the team more points. After Atkins' six point hammer throw,
Dru Green's 45.67m throw garnered two points. The previous noted shot put throw by Atkins also earned the team six points.
Haley Trammell took third the triple with a 11.82m jump, adding eight to the UWG team total.
THROWS
Following the aforementioned throwers, Kyla Ford placed 10th on her 44.81m hammer and Madeline Campbell's 42.78m throw ranked her 14th.
After Atkins, Dru Green's 12.72m shot put placed her ninth, Kyla Ford recorded a 11.74m throw to rank 12th, Jaycee Woods 11.65m toss placed her 13th and Chioma Uwaomah ranked 16th with her 10.94m mark.
JUMPS AND VAULTS
After Trammell, Jordan Kelly's 10.72m triple jump placed her 13th and Amaya Hammel's 9.13m mark ranked her 15th.
SPRINTS AND HURDLES
Tykendra Daniel's 59.61 400m dash ranked her ninth in today's finals.
Following Leblanc in the 400m hurdles was Olivia Fulford with a time of 1:08.01 to finish ninth.
RELAYS
The 4x100 team recorded a 48.94 time to place fourth.
