HUNTSVILLE, Ala.- The Wolves men's cross country team made history on Friday evening at John Hunt Park, capturing their first team victory of the Division I era behind a dominant performance.

Graduate student Griffin Stephens led the Wolves with a standout performance in the men's 8000m, crossing the line in 25:31.11 to secure the individual title. Stephens' effort spearheaded a tightly packed top five that allowed UWG to win the meet with 33 points.

Right behind him, Noah Anderson claimed fifth in 26:13.28, while Alex Njoroge placed ninth in 26:28.27. Aiden Thaxton continued to impress with a 10th place finish in 26:33.54, and Felipe Barrios rounded out the top five in 26:38.01 for 11th overall. The Wolves' spread of just one minute and six seconds between their first and fifth runner showcased the team's balance and depth.

The supporting pack further established the Wolves' dominance, with Solomon Johnson placing 20th in 27:06.05, followed by Abe Woellore finishing 27th in 27:26.29. Jesse Baldwin came through in 27:30.48, Parker Ferguson ran 27:36.01, and Bruno Valdez posted 27:42.00, all top 40 finishes.

With Stephens leading the charge, the Wolves not only claimed their first Division I era win but also displayed the depth and competitiveness needed for future success.

West Georgia will look to build on this victory when they head to the Upstate Invitational at Millikin Research Park in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on Friday, September 26 at 8 a.m.
