Last Stop Before the ASUN Championships

CARROLLTON, Ga.- The UWG men's track and field team makes its final stop before the ASUN championship this weekend, traveling to Tryon, North Carolina for the Tryon Mid-Winter Collegiate Invitational.

Sprints & Hurdles  
The sprint is led by school-record holder Gavin Barlow, who enters the 60m at 6.80 after recently resetting his own UWG record with a 6.74 run. He's joined by Vaughn Dickenson Jr., who has an entry time of 6.90, Michael Willis matches that mark at 6.90, while Kyron Belton checks in at 6.99, and Jaylen Patterson sits at 7.16. Jackson Connors enters at 7.18, and both Godsfavor Adenuga and Marcus Thompson Jr. post 7.20 marks to round out a deep sprint lineup.

Heading into the 200m where Trey Campbell leads UWG at 21.39, followed closely by UWG 300m and 400m record holder Matt Strickland, who enters at 21.76. Michael Willis sits at 22.01, Kyron Belton at 22.40, Jaylen Patterson at 22.64, David Akinyemi at 22.77, Vaughn Dickenson Jr. at 22.83, Landon Chovanic at 22.93, and Ishmeal Neblett at 23.13. Strickland anchors the 400m group with a 47.20 entry as Campbell follows at 48.79 and Zachary Wiggins adds a 52.63 mark. Over the hurdles, Chovanic leads with an 8.43 in the 60m hurdles, Wiggins enters at 8.48, Neblett posts 8.71, and Rhett Howard rounds out the group at 9.24.

Jumps

Fresh off ASUN Freshman of the Week honors, UWG high jump and triple jump record holder Blake Davis enters with a 2.00m high jump and a 14.29m triple jump, continuing one of the strongest freshman campaigns in program history. He's joined in the high jump by Isaiah McMichael at 2.00m, Matthew Brunner at 1.80m, Kellen Andrews at 1.78m, Conner Changizi at 1.67m, and Howard at 1.63m. The long jump is led by Godsfavor Adenuga leading at 7.56m and Barlow close behind at 7.37m. Thompson enters at 6.93m, Brunner at 6.10m, Davis at 6.09m, Ricky Griffin at 5.95m, Howard at 5.75m, and Changizi at 5.74m.

Vaults & Throws 

The field events continue to impress as Connor McLain leads the pole vault at 4.78m, with Kareem Nazim entering at 4.61m and Shea Thiewes at 4.48m. Sam Hall adds a 4.07m mark while Howard contributes at 3.96m. In the throws, Howard leads the shot put group with a 10.93m mark, narrowly ahead of Andrews at 10.91m. Aiden Willis enters at 10.45m, Changizi throws 10.02m, and Brunner checks in at 8.59m. The weight throw brings additional strength as Nicholas Lane enters at 15.04m, Darius Mcneal at 13.76m, and Willis adds an 11.07m mark.

Distance

The distance team is paced by Abenezer Woellore, who owns a 4:20.71 mile entry time, while Noah Anderson follows at 4:22.85 and Solomon Johnson enters at 4:25.23. Alex Njoroge posts 4:26, Felipe Barrios sits at 4:29.00, Hyrum Smartt at 4:30, Parker Ferguson at 4:32, Gabriel Wrye at 4:36.78, Reed Crabtree at 4:39.54, and Daniel Murtagh rounds out the group with a mark of 4:44.04. In longer races, Aiden Thaxton leads the 3000m with an 8:54.00 entry, while Tyler Jones brings a 16:10.92 mark in the 5000m. 

Relays 

The Wolves 4x400m team has an opening mark 3:12.71 behind combinations of Matt Strickland, Landon Chovanic, Trey Campbell, Zachary Wiggins, Matthew Brunner, and Julian Mays. The 4x800m unit has a time of 8:05 with Reed Crabtree, Daniel Murtagh, Parker Ferguson, Tyler Jones, and Aiden Thaxton, while UWG's 4000m distance medley relay owns a 10:32.47 mark with two strong rotations. Squad A features Felipe Barrios, Matt Strickland, Abenezer Woellore, Noah Anderson, Hyrum Smartt, Solomon JohnsonAiden Thaxton, and Matthew Brunner, while Squad B includes Alex Njoroge, Smartt, Gabriel Wrye, Johnson, Crabtree, Chovanic, Ferguson, and Murtagh.

The Wolves are led by Head Coach Ryan Bailey alongside sprints, jumps, and hurdles coach Shanicka Dyson-Woodman, pole vault coach Shannon Riley, throws coach Robert Brown, and graduate assistants Phelani Maduwa and Olivia Fulford.
