UWG Basketball Takes on Queens in the Final Road Game

2/20/2026 10:24:00 AM

CARROLLTON, Ga. - West Georgia men's basketball is set to play in its final regular season road game this Saturday, taking on Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina. Tipoff from Curry Arena is set for 3 p.m.

Coming off an overtime loss at EKU, UWG (12-15, 6-9 ASUN) closes out its two-week road stretch rematching the top-ranked Royals (16-12, 11-4 ASUN) in their home gym.

The last time the two teams faced off, the Wolves handed Queens its first ASUN loss of the season in the City of Dreams. That 74-66 victory was the first UWG win in the series. Queens now leads the all-time head-to-head 4-1.

Currently tied for sixth with three other schools in the league rankings, the final three games of regular season will dictate whether the Wolves are ranked as high as fifth or as low as 11th going into the ASUN Championship Tournament.

The Wolves will look to their leading scorer and rebounder Shelton Williams-Dryden to push the pace for the Pack on Saturday. Not only does he lead the Wolves, his 20.6 points per game average ranks first in the ASUN, while his 9.3 rebounds per game average places him second. These figures tie Williams-Dryden for 19th nationally in scoring and 27th in rebounding. Not only is the senior forward scoring at a high rate, he is also achieving this feat while shooting at a ninth-best in-conference 48 percent field goal percentage. The last time UWG faced Queens, Williams-Dryden led the Pack with 24 points and 11 rebounds.

Another Wolf putting up top ASUN figures is forward JaVar Daniel. Averaging two blocks per game, Daniel leads the conference and ranks 27th nationally. This average has accumulated to 51 total blocks, which ties the big man for fourth all-time in UWG history for single-season blocks.

It's not just Daniel who has been putting up historic block numbers. Forward Kenneth Chime broke into the UWG single season top-ten in the latest game after recording his 38th block of the year. Currently, he ranks third in the ASUN with a 1.4 BPG average.

Fueled by these two averages, the Wolves' combined five blocks per game lead the ASUN and tie the team for 18th nationally.

Looking at Queens, the Royals attack the basket with an even distribution, highlighted by the fact six different players average double-digits.

Leading the team with a scoring average of 12.6 points per game is senior guard Nasir Mann. Going over Mann's ASUN game logs, the guard's conference play has been marked by a mix of low double-digit scoring performances and a handful of single-digit games. Notably, his season-low of two points came in the last matchup against UWG. In addition to leading the Royals in scoring, he also leads the team with 26 steals and a 5.4 rebounds per game average.

While he is not the leading scorer, one Royal worth keeping an eye for on Saturday is No. 11 Chris Ashby. Voted as the ASUN Preseason Player of the Year, the senior guard currently averages 11.1 points per game on 36 percent shooting. Despite not having the best scoring average or shooting percentage, Ashby has proven that he can take over a game at a moment's notice. The guard opened ASUN play dropping 34, 20 and 11, and he has since scored double-digits in five more games.

From guard to center, the Royals have one of the longest starting lineups in the league. Measuring in at an average of 6-foot-6, Queens averages two inches taller than the Wolves' starting lineup.

Queen's 84.3 points per game average also leads the ASUN, while their 48 percent field goal percentage ranks the Royals second. On the other hand, UWG averages 76 points per game and has recorded a 44 percent team field goal rate.

The Wolves and Royals tipoff from Curry Arena at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Streaming and live stat links are tagged at the top of the page.
